BAIBA T. COUTURE

Fabrics

The fabrics we use are always natural fabrics such as Silk, Cashmere, Wool, Tweed, Cotton and Linen. I regularly look for and source new suppliers which satisfy my criteria as to quality and uniqueness.

Sourcing the right fabric to meet a clients wishes and requirements is paramount to the process. Below are some examples of current sources.

SILK
Silk - is mainly sourced from France and Italy from various suppliers.

WOOL
Wool - Suiting fabrics are made in England from one of my favourite suppliers, Holland & Sherry and Linton Tweed. They also supply Chanel.

CASHMERE
Cashmere – from suppliers in Scotland.

COUTURE FABRICS
Couture fabrics - these are often intricate weaves and blends of yarns and mixed fibres from the likes of Henry Bertrand and Jose Maria Ruiz.

LININGS
Linings - most of the time I use pure silk for that luxurious feel and Habutai silk in particular. This assists in creating extremely light weight garments.

BUTTONS
Buttons - these are made from natural fibers such as Horn, Corozo (made from the nut of the tagua palm), Mother of Pearl, real shell buttons. They compliment and complete the look.
